Year 6 are halfway through their 2D Sculpture project. Here are some examples of our Exploration lesson where the children were introduced to cross-hatching and using lines to create 3D effects. They first copied a way of making a 3D hand then they explored their own ideas using Barbara Hepworth and Sir Henry Moore examples. King sketched his own version of Barbara's surgery scenes and Jack has used negative space to create the illusion of light on the finger tips by making no marks at all.
These skills will become a component of their 2D sculptures inspired by Lubaina Himid. The children were so proud of their efforts that they wanted to take copies home to show their parents. We are certainly extremely proud of them for Thinking Big and producing innovative outcomes.
